There is something so unique about old window panes. I am absolutely in love with the look of the cracked paint and wood and I am fortunate enough to have access to some windows. So here is how I used them to give my room a little bit of vintage flair!
I had to clean them up a bit and I was ecstatic because I was able to use some power tools
:)
First I pressure washed them and then after they dried I used an orbital sander to get the rest of the junk off.
I was planning on painting them some more colors but the white and brown ended up being perfect for the color scheme of my room.
The sihouette paintings that you see were done with the same watercolor technique that I described here. It is an easy painting project that almost always turns out beautiful :)

They look so beautiful, Lydia :) You cleaned them up very nicely. I also love the paintings, especially the peacock one.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The peacock is my favorite too, I made two other small ones to go with it but they aren't pictured
ReplyDeleteI love window panes too! I am always on the lookout for good tips on how to decorate with them, thanks for sharing! Newest follower from the tip junkie link party!

beautiful! Maybe I will see you on DIY network one day?? ;)
ReplyDeleteI so love recycled window panes too. This project turned out lovely. I have a huge one that I use as my back drop for most of my furniture. I knocked all the glass out and made it into a chalkboard. There are endless uses for these!
