P.roject P.hoto

Ok everybody, I need some help. I have been wanting to work on this photo for awhile but I do not have my own laptop at the moment and I'm beginning to feel very impatient. Since I cannot currently work with it on photoshop, I have been exploring the world of picnik.com. It is a pretty neat site for when you need to touch-up if you are lost experimenting without photoshop.

I absolutely LOVE this photo, I took it while playing on the beach with my sister. Personally, I don't think it really needs much editing. Just a crop here and some contrast there. Then again, I do not have a professional eye... merely one that likes things to look pretty.

Here are some examples that I came up with while messing around on picnik:

                                                                               Cropped:

                                                                         Lots of contrast:

                                                                                   Sepia:

Black and white with focal point in color:

B/W focal point in color with Orton-ish:

So do you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments? Are you familiar with picnik.com or other sites/programs of that sort?

  1. I love the edit in sepia. I've never used picnik but have you ever thought of trying out GIMP? It's free and you some things that are a bit similar to photoshop. I know that you can add textures in layers in it just like in photoshop.

  3. I love the second b/w with focal color... I have a few ideas but of course I think it would need Photoshop's help... I would like to see her body as more of a shadow, darken the whole body to the point where you can't tell there are clothes and pop the color of the fabric... but all the experimenting you've done already is neat. Just keep playing!

  4. I love the second b/w as well. I just don't like how the sand is so dark, it looks more like ash to me haha. I was also thinking along the same lines as you, it would be awesome to make her body darker and the color brilliant!

  7. I like the original photo best I think because it has the background showing more and the sand looks natural. It is a fabulous unique photo Lydia :)
