I feel bad for not posting anything interesting in the past week and a half. I won't give you any excuses other than my life is busy and my camera's battery is dead :)
So to make up for my absence, here is a video that made my roommates and me laugh so hard that we cried:
Hola a todos!! Sorry for being MIA, I just started classes and everything is absolute chaos. Remember the photo of my room while I was packing? Well... let's just say that it looks worse now while I'm unpacking. Yikes!
I would like to ask for your prayers in getting my life settled again for another year, things have been crazy but good. Also, there is a hurricane headed my way. Pray for the safety of my roommates and myself as we ride out the storm.
More good news is that I finally have my own laptop back so be expecting new and amazing things soon!!!
I would like to make a shoutout to thank my newest followers Ewa.Kelly and LauraX. I hope to keep you interested and engaged! Thank you again for following :)
Ok everybody, I need some help. I have been wanting to work on this photo for awhile but I do not have my own laptop at the moment and I'm beginning to feel very impatient. Since I cannot currently work with it on photoshop, I have been exploring the world of picnik.com. It is a pretty neat site for when you need to touch-up if you are lost experimenting without photoshop.
I absolutely LOVE this photo, I took it while playing on the beach with my sister. Personally, I don't think it really needs much editing. Just a crop here and some contrast there. Then again, I do not have a professional eye... merely one that likes things to look pretty.
Here are some examples that I came up with while messing around on picnik:
Cropped:
Lots of contrast:
Sepia:
Black and white with focal point in color:
B/W focal point in color with Orton-ish:
So do you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments? Are you familiar with picnik.com or other sites/programs of that sort?
I would like to take a second to thank my newest followers Amanda Haskin, Brie from Darling Doodles, Sunray Gardens, and Ohio Outdoors. It always makes me giddy to know that you are interested in what I have to say/show (that goes for all of my followers!) :)
Update: Pradeepa just joined today as well, thank you!
So, Thank You! I hope that you enjoy my blog. Constructive criticism is appreciated just as much as compliments! I promise that I will return the favor because I know that you value it just as much as I do.
New beginnings are always a good thing, although sometimes they can be very painful. God has led me along a road to a new beginning, and it has not been a very pretty sight. It is amazing the way that God disciplines His children. And let me tell you, I have been through some disciplining. Ouch. The good thing is that it has taught me how to live and walk in faith. Now I know that if I stray from Him then a good old fashioned spanking is in order. I have learned to live in fear of God but also in love with Him. He has provided me with everything that I have and it all belongs to Him. I need to remind myself that all of the things that I make, such as all of these DIYs and projects, come straight from God.
This is the start of a new year, a new beginning, and I am more than excited to jump into the [organized] chaos. Who knows what will happen tomorrow? well, Someone does :)
For me, this school year is a symbol of new things to come, new beginnings, and new experiences. I am blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people, to be living in a beautiful apartment, and to even be going to college. Thank You God!!
There is something so unique about old window panes. I am absolutely in love with the look of the cracked paint and wood and I am fortunate enough to have access to some windows. So here is how I used them to give my room a little bit of vintage flair!
I had to clean them up a bit and I was ecstatic because I was able to use some power tools
:)
First I pressure washed them and then after they dried I used an orbital sander to get the rest of the junk off.
I was planning on painting them some more colors but the white and brown ended up being perfect for the color scheme of my room.
The sihouette paintings that you see were done with the same watercolor technique that I described here. It is an easy painting project that almost always turns out beautiful :)
Technically I did this project for my mom for Christmas but I did not have a chance to put the tutorial on the blog until now. Since I've been so busy posting, I figured "why not add one more thing and post this one too?" And so here it is :)
Have you ever felt lonely and frustrated but you don't really know why? I have, I hate when it happens. It makes me feel like something is wrong with me. Like I'm all dried up inside when I should be enjoying each moment that is full of life. I sit there and feel angry and confused and lash out at the people closest to me. After a few minutes or hours or days of feeling alone, I have to remind myself that it's ok to feel that way. Everyone feels it in some point in their life. I'm not saying that it is a good thing to feel, but it's not wierd.
When I start feeling this way it is usually because I have taken it upon myself to walk my own life. I forget that God is in control and I try to take that control away from him. I see a pattern: I stop relying on God for everything and begin to rely on myself, that is when everything fails miserably. I simply cannot handle life on my own. Sure, I think I can handle at least the good stuff, but when it gets into the nitty gritty details... I just fail.
I want to encourage you through this post. When you start feeling like a withering autumn leaf, look to God for comfort. He will never deny you water. Give the control back to Him, it is so much easier when someone else is handling the situation.
I found that this song conveys the exact feeling of my frustrations. I hope that it will speak to you in some way and give you some hope as well.
I made a run to Goodwill today after being inspired by this cool wall art at A Beautiful Mess. I will post a DIY here because I want to write it in Spanish (and show off my art too hehe).

Hello! I am back and full of creative ideas. Be prepared for an onslaught of new DIYs because I am bursting at the seams with them. :)
Today my friend and I found this really awesome store that was home to a bunch of old and vintage things. Most of the items were way overpriced, but we managed to find some items worth buying and so we each bought a colorful burlap sack. This is what I did with mine!
